False Statistics
Another common pitfall of generative AI is false statistics. Without guardrails or guidance, AI outputs can include confident‑looking statistics:
“73% of Gen Z prefer…”
“Nearly 80% of consumers…”
This is particularly dangerous in marketing and related fields, where statistics are easily lifted into presentations, blogs, or strategy recommendations.

Brand Voice Collapse
Without clear guardrails, AI-generated content tends to drift toward a generic tone. Over time, outputs begin to sound less like a distinct brand tone and more like “AI-generated content.”
Research presented at ICLR 2024 found that co‑writing with generative AI measurably reduces content diversity. In other words, when AI is used without strong stylistic constraints or human review, content variation declines.
For brands, this creates a risk. If every brand relied on generative AI for content creation, every brand would start to sound the same.

Real people don’t answer questions cleanly. They hesitate, contradict themselves, stray off‑topic, or sometimes refuse to answer entirely. That friction or uncertainty is part of what makes humans human.
AI generated outputs are built to be on‑topic, complete, and helpful. While that may be efficient, the absence of uncertainty or contradiction creates the illusion of confidence and understanding rather than evidence of it.
This is especially relevant in research and insight‑driven work. When every response is polished and confident, teams risk mistaking confidence for credibility. This is why human involvement must remain in workflows, with intentional questioning of outputs.
